abstract | 1,168,405. Copolyamides. INVENTA FœR FORSCHUNG UND PATENTVERWERTUNG ZœRICH A.G. 25 July, 1968 [14 Aug., 1967], No. 35637/68. Addition to 1,168,404. Heading C3R. Copolyamides having a random distribution of monomer units throughout the molecule are prepared by heating (A) polycapriclactam with (B) 8-caprolactam or #-aminocaproic acid or both, or oenantholactam or aminoundecanoic acid, and (c) hexamethylene diamine sebacate or adipate, in an inert atmosphere to 260 to 290‹ C, with consequent breakdown of the polycapriclactam to capriclactam monomer units, until a random distribution of the monomer units is achieved, the polymerization being continued for at least 8 hours at 290‹ C. or at least 12 hours at 260‹ C. An organic carboxylic acid chain growth regulator, e.g. sebacic acid, may be present. |
