titleOfInvention | Process for the Production of Cyanine Compounds |
abstract | 1,167,110. Preparing cyanine dyes. J. R. GEIGY A.G. 2 Feb., 1968 [3 Feb., 1967], No. 5473/68. Heading C4P. [Also in Division C2] Cyanine dyes are prepared by reacting a bisarenazolyl methylene compound of formula wherein ACA<SP>11</SP>are arylene groups joined in an ortho position to the oxygen and nitrogen atom, X is O or S, R is H, methyl, butyl or phenyl and Z is an anion with an equivalent of alkylating agent, a base and another alkylating agent containing the group Z attached to the alkyl group. The arylene group may contain alkyl, chloro or methoxy groups. After treatment with the base the dye base is formed. The dyes are used as optical brightening agents for textile materials. |
