1,164,354. Hydrogenation of nitriles. TOYO RAYON K.K. 4 July, 1967 [4 July, 1966], No. 30793/67. Heading C2C. Primary amines are produced by the hydrogenation of nitriles with hydrogen in the presence of a base, alumina, water, a hydrogenation catalyst and optionally an inert organic solvent. In the examples, dodecylamine, 2-methyl-4- amino - 5 - aminomethylpyrimidine, # - aminoethylbenzene, 3 - aminomethylpyridine, hexamethylene diamine, p-xylylenediamine, dodecamethylenediamine, 2 - methylpentamethylenediamine, trans - 1,2 - diaminomethylcyclobutane are obtained by hydrogenating the appropriate nitriles, dinitriles or aminonitriles; and a mixture of primary amines are obtained to form a mixture of fatty acid nitriles. Hexamethyleneimine is obtained as a byproduct in the hydrogenation of #-aminocapronitrile and adiponitrile. 3-Methylpiperidine is produced as a byproduct in the hydrogenation of 2-methylglutaronitrile. |
