titleOfInvention A process for the Preparation of Polyurethane-Urea Solutions
abstract 1,163,198. Polyurethane - urea solutions; microporous materials. CESKOSLOVENSKE ZAVODY GUMARENSKE A PLASTIK - ARSKE OBOROVE REDITELSTVI GOTTWALDOV. 17 March, 1967 [17 March, 1966], No. 12622/67. Headings C3C and C3R. Polyurethane-urea block copolymer solutions wherein the segments of the copolymer comprise polyurethane-ureas of differing moduli of elasticity and differing plasticizing temperatures are prepared by preparing at least two different polyurethane compounds by reacting a polyol with a stoichiometric excess of at least two different diisocyanates, and either dissolving each of the polyurethane compounds in a solvent, mixing together the solutions thus obtained and reacting the polyurethane compounds in solution with at least one diamine, or alternatively reacting each of the polyurethane compounds separately with a stoichiometric excess of a diamine, dissolving each of the polyurethane-ureas thus obtained in a solvent, mixing together the polyurethane-ureas, and reacting the polyurethane-ureas in solution with a compound containing free isocyanate groups. In examples, (1) polymer A is produced by reacting a polyoxypropylene glycol with 4,4<SP>1</SP>- diphenylmethane diisocyanate to form a prepolymer which is reacted with hydrazine in dimethylformamide to form a polyurethane-urea solution, polymer B is produced by reacting the polyoxypropylene glycol with a mixture of 2,4- and 2,6-toluylene diisocyanate to form a prepolymer which is reacted with hydrazine in dimethylformamide to form a polyurethaneurea solution and the two solutions are mixed and reacted with 4,4<SP>1</SP>-diphenyl diisocyanate, (2) polymers A and B are mixed and reacted with a polymerizate solution prepared by reacting polyoxypropylene glycol and 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate and (3) the prepolymers from which polymers A and B are derived are dissolved in dimethylformamide and reacted with hydrazine. Films, especially those having a microporous structure, may be prepared from the polyurethane-urea block copolymer solutions which may be mixed with polyvinyl chloride or poly-methylmethacrylate solutions. In the production of microporous films, the solution, applied to a suitable substrate, may be exposed to the action of a liquid which is miscible with the solvent and precipitates the polymers.
