titleOfInvention Process for Dimerization of Olefins
abstract 1,162,609. Dimerization of hydrocarbons. B. F. GOODRICH CO. 19 Oct., 1967 [20 Oct., 1966 (2)], No. 47606/67. Heading C5E. C 2-4 alpha-olefins are dimerized or co-dimerized, and ethylene is co-dimerized with vinyl cyclohexene, in the presence of a catalyst comprising:- (a) a nickel salt, e.g. NiBr 2 , NiCl 2 or nickel acetylacetonate; (b) an alkyl aluminium compound, e.g. tributyl aluminium, dipropyl aluminium chloride, ethyl aluminium sesquichloride, or butyl aluminium dichloride; (c) a halogen-containing olefin, e.g. crotyl chloride, 1-chloropropene-1 and 2,3-dichloropropene.
