titleOfInvention Process for the Production of Organopolysiloxane Elastomer Coatings on Metals
abstract 1,162,025. Polysiloxane coatings. WACKERCHEMIE G.m.b.H. 11 Oct., 1966 [11 Oct., 1965], No. 45341/66. Heading B2K. [Also in Division C3] In coating metals with silicone rubbers, the metal, particularly Cu or an alloy thereof, e.g. brass, or a Cu object having soldered joints, is coated as by casting, immersion or roller coating techniques, with a room temp. curing composition comprising (1) a hydroxy-terminated diorganopolysiloxane, (2) a silicon compound containing at least 3 Si-bonded-OR radicals (R being a monovalent hydrocarbon radical that may be substituted and/or interrupted by ether oxygen atoms) and/or Si bonded H atoms, (3) a metal salt as condensation catalyst, and (4), as an anti-corrosive additive, an organic compound containing C, H, N and S atoms, and optionally O atoms, (see Division C3). Conventional fillers and additives -may also be added. In a typical Example (1) a composition comprised of thioglycollic acid (#-naphthyl,amide, hexaethyldisiloxane, dibutytlindilaurate, diatomaceous earth and a hydroxy-terminated-dimethylpolysiloxane was used to coat (a) sheet Ou having one side polished and the other side degreased, (b) sheet Cu to which a drop of solder has been applied to the polished .side, and (c) sheet Cu to which sheet Ni had been soldered on the polished side.
