Heading A5B [Also in Divisions C2 and C3] Antiperspirant compositions include, as active ingredient, an inorganic-organic complex of aluminium and zinc or zirconium of the general formula: n # Al 2 (OH) 4-5 A 1-2 R 1-4 H 2 O 0.5-4 wherein α is selected from zinc chloride, iodide, bromide, hydroxy chloride, hydroxy bromide or hydroxy iodide, or zirconyl chloride or hydroxy chloride; A is a chloride, bromide or iodide ion; R is the coordinating moiety of a polyhydroxy compound; n is the number of moles of and always at least 0.05. The antiperspirant composition, which may also contain a cosmetic adjuvant, may be adadministered in an aerosol form when mixed with an aerosol propellant and a non-toxic dermatologically - acceptable non-aqueous solvent. The complexes may also be used as antiperspirant compositions in lotions, colognes and powders. |
