Spent catalysts containing a Group VIII metal having been previously used for the selective hydrogenation of unsaturated organic compounds are reactivated by initially washing in a stream of inert liquid hydrocarbon below 200‹C. and subsequently contacting the washed catalyst with a stream of hydrogen at 200-500‹C. Examples describe the use of catalysts containing (1) CaO, Al 2 O 3 , Ni and (2) Pd. Additionally the catalysts may contain MoO 3 . Co and Pt are other specified Group VIII metals. |
