abstract | 1,157,330. Development process. EASTMAN KODAK CO. July 13, 1966 [Oct. 22, 1965], No.31471/66. Heading G2C. Latent images comprising developable latent image specks or nuclei are developed by treatment with an aqueous solution comprising a water-soluble copper salt e.g. cupric nitrate or the sulphate, bromide, acetate, benzoate, chloride or lactate of copper and a reducing agent e.g. ascorbic acid or a water-soluble salt thereof. The latent image may be present in an exposed silver halide or silver-dye complex layer or an exposed zinc oxide, zinc hydroxide leadiodide or methylene blue emulsion layer treated with silver nitrate or the sensitive layers described in Specification 1, 076, 778. The developers of the invention can be used as solvent transfer developers containing a silver halide solvent and may be present in a silver precipitant layer comprising nickel sulphide, sodium iodide, 1-methyl-1, 2, 3, 6-tetrahydro-1, 3, 5-triazine-4- thiol, 3-mercaplo-1,2,4-triazole and 3,8- dithiadecane-1,10-bis- (N-methyl-piperidinium-ptoluene sulphonate). The developer may contain an organic nitrogenous base e.g. 2-aminoethanol or a sulphur dioxide amine adduct amongst others. The development may take place after fixation of a silver halide emulsion. |
