titleOfInvention | Process For The Separation Of Mixtures Of Organic Compounds By Adduct Formation |
abstract | 1,153,930. Separating hydrocarbons. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 31 Oct., 1967 [2 Nov., 1966], No. 49428/67. Heading C5E. A process for the separation of a mixture of organic compounds part of which can form solid adducts with urea- or thiourea comprises contacting the mixture with solid ammoniate of the adducting agent under ammonia pressure, the ammoniate being decomposed during the contact to form solid adducting agent which forms solid adducts with the adductable compounds, separating the adducts from the non-adducted part of the mixture, and decomposing the separated adducts. Excess of adducting agent may be used. Formation of ammoniate, decomposition of ammoniate, formation of adduct and decompositon of adduct may be effected at the same temperature by variation of ammonia pressure. The process can separate n-paraffin (e.g. waxes) from petroleum fractions. |
