abstract | 1,152,697. Therapeutic compositions. DENVER CHEMICAL MFG. CO. 27 May, 1966 [18 June, 1965], No. 23799/66. Heading A5B. Orally administrable therapeutic compositions comprise a mixture of a psychopharmacological drug (chosen from anti-depressants, tranquilizers and central nervous system stimulants) and an enteric coated proteolytic enzyme or hyaluronidase, but excluding any content of a pantothenyl-group-containing compound. The proteolytic enzyme may be trypsin, papain, bromelain, ficin, streptokinase, penguinan, collagenase derived from Clostridium hystolyticum, a protease derived from Bacillus subtilis, Asper gillus oryzae, Aspergillus niger or Microsporon gypseum or preferably chymotryspin. The psychopharmacological drug may be a phenothiazine derivative such as chlorpromazine, prochlorperazine, promethazine, promazine, mepazine, pyrathiazine, diethazine, perphenazine; thiopropazole, trimeprazine, trifluoperazine or trifluopromazine; a Rauwolfia alkaloid, e.g. reserpine, rescinnamine, syrosingopine or deserpidine, C.N.S. stimulants such as dextroamphetamine, methylphenidyl acetate, pipradol, azacyclonal or other tranquilizers or anti-depressants such as covatin, hydroxyzine, bentactyzine, dimethylyn, meprobamate or imipramine. The composition may be in the form of gelatin capsules or tablets comprising a core containing the enzyme coated with an enteric substance such as cellulose acetate phthalate or shellac and further comprising a compressed or sugar coating containing the psychopharmacological drug. |
