titleOfInvention Process for the preparation of polyhalogenated alkenes
abstract 1,149,687. Polyhalogenated alkenes and alkenyl sulphides. SOC. NATIONALE DES PETROLES D'AQUITAINE. 7 Aug., 1967 [10 Aug., 1966; 1 Aug., 1967], No. 36172/67. Heading C2C. Polyhalogenated alkenes are obtained by treating with halogen, bis-(mono- or poly-haloalkenyl) sulphides which have at least one halogen atom in the 1-position with respect to the double bond, e.g. those of the formula in which X is a halogen atom, Y and Z are each halogen or hydrogen atoms or alkyl groups and Q is a halogen or hydrogen atom. The propenyl sulphide of the above formula may be obtained by reacting a 3-halopropene with an alkali metal sulphide or a 1,1,1,3- tetrahalopropane with an alkali metal sulphide and a base.
