[Also in Division A5] The invention comprises compounds of general formula in which R 1 is straight or branched C 1 -C 6 alkyl or alkoxy or phenyl, R 2 is C 1 -C 6 alkyl, R 3 is H or C 1 -C 6 alkyl, R 4 is H or C 1 -C 6 alkyl or phenyl which may be substituted by halogen, nitro, C 1 -C 6 alkyl, alkoxy or alkylmercapto radicals, and X is oxygen or sulphur. They are prepared by reacting a halide of formula (R 1 )(R 2 O)P(X)Hal, wherein Hal is halogen, with an alkali metal salt or ammonium salt of a triazole derivative of general formula or with the free mercapto compound itself in the presence of an acid-binding agent such as an alkali metal hydroxide, carbonate or alcoholate or a tertiary organic base. The reaction is usually carried out in an inert solvent at a temperature between 20‹ to 80‹ C. The compounds have insecticidal properties.
