[Also in Divisions B2, C3 and D1] Methylolated polycarboxylic acid amides are prepared by refluxing the amide with aqueous formaldehyde and optionally formic acid. In Example 6 the ethyl acrylate trimer amide has been prepared by reacting hydrogenated ethyl acrylate trimer with ammonia under pressure. Other amides used in the examples are isophthalamide, adipamide, succinamide, malonamide, α-methylglutaramide, o-phthalamide and sebacamide. |
