titleOfInvention Hydroformylation of propene
abstract 1,145,000. N-Butyraldehyde. MONTECATINI EDISON S.p.A. 13 March, 1968 [17 March, 1967], No. 12115/68. Heading C2C. N-Butyraldehyde is prepared, with high selectivity, by hydroformylation of propene, in the presence of a nitrile or amide reaction medium. The medium may be an N,N- dialkyl-amide, a tetraalkyl urea, an aliphatic nitrile or dinitrile, containing 2-12 carbons in the molecule. A catalyst of a cobalt carbonyl complexed with a phosphine may be present and the reaction conditions may be a temperature of 110-220‹ C. and a pressure of 20-400 atmospheres.
