titleOfInvention The preparation of enamines and gem-diamino compounds
abstract 1,141,731. The preparation of enamines and gem-bis-(disubstituted amino) compounds. H. F. VON HIRSCH. 17 Feb., 1967 [21 Feb., 1966], No. 7798/67. Heading C2C. The invention comprises a process for the preparation of enamines and gem-bis-(disubstituted amino) compounds by reacting an aldehyde or a ketone with a tris-(disubstituted amino) arsine in an inert atmosphere and the novel compounds: 3-dimethylaminotropidine, α - dimethylaminostyrene, x - piperidinostyrene and 1 - dimethylamino - 1 - (α - pyridyl) ethylene. Enamines of the formula R 1 R 2 N-CR 3 = CR 4 R 5 in which R 1 and R 2 are methyl groups or together with the adjacent nitrogen atom form a heterocyclic ring and R 3 , R 4 and R 5 are hydrogen atoms, aliphatic hydrocarbon, aryl or heterocyclic groups or R 3 and R 4 are part of an alicyclic or heterocyclic ring are prepared by reacting an aldehyde or ketone of the formula 0 = CR 3 - CHR 4 R 5 with a tris- (disubstituted amino) arsine of the formula As(NR 1 R 2 ) 3 in an inert atmosphere. Gem - bis - (disubstituted amino) compounds of the formula R 4 R 3 C(NR 1 R 2 ) 2 in which R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and R 4 are as defined above except that neither R 3 nor R 4 has a hydrogen atom in the α - position relative to the bis-amino substituted carbon atom, are prepared by reacting an aldehyde or ketone of the formula R 4 COR 3 in which R 3 and R 4 are the same as defined above except that the aldehyde or ketone has no α- hydrogen atom, with a tris-(disubstituted amino) arsine of the formula As(NR 1 R 2 ) 3 in an inert atmosphere. Suitably the reactions are carried out in an inert anhydrous solvent and at elevated temperature.
