[Also in Division G2] Aqueous colloidal dispersions of a metal sulphide or selenide are stabilized by treatment with an ionic compound of Au, Pd or Pt. Specified sulphides are those of Ag, Bi, Cd, Co, Cu, Ni, Pb, Sn and Zn, the preparation of NiS from Ni(NO 3 ) 2 and NaS being described. Specified treating compounds are chlorides and bromides e.g. AuCl 3 , K 2 PdCl 4 and K 2 PtCl 4 . In addition, there may be present gelatine, casein, zein, albumin, collodion, hydrolysed cellulose acetate, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acrylates, styrene-butadiene latex.
