titleOfInvention | Preparation of vanadium oxytrichloride |
abstract | 1,138,376. Vanadium oxytrichloride. MAGNESIUM ELEKTRON Ltd. 24 Oct., 1967 [31 Oct., 1966], No. 48672/66. Heading C1A. VOCl 3 is produced by reacting heated ferrovanadium with a mixture of Cl 2 and O 2 . The ratio of O 2 : Cl 2 may be 0À15 1 to 2 : 1 by wt. FeCl 3 is also formed, and is removed by passing the gaseous product stream upwardly into a column of one or more alkali metal chlorides, e.g. NaCl kept at 200‹ C., which combines with the FeCl 3 to form a liquid which flows down to beneath the surface of a trap of the liquid kept at 200-400" C. The VOCl 3 vapours from the top of the column are condensed. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller, to Specification 1,060,227. |
