titleOfInvention | Carbamyl hydroxamate pesticides |
abstract | 1,138,348. Carbamyl hydroxamates; hydroxamate esters. E. I. DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO. 21 Dec., 1965, No. 32989/68. Divided out of 1,138,347. Heading C2C. [Also in Divisions A5 and C3] The invention comprises compounds of the general formula in which R 1 is hydrogen, C 1 -C 12 alkyl, C 2 -C 12 alkenyl, C 3 -C 12 alkynyl, C 1 -C 12 haloalkyl, C 2 -C 12 alkoxyalkyl, C 3 -C 12 carboalkoxyalkyl, C 2 -C 12 dialkylamino; C 2 -C 6 carboalkoxy, C 2 -C 12 alkylthioalkyl, C 3 -C 10 cycloalkyl, benzyl, chlorobenzyl, 1- or 2-naphthyl, phenyl, in which X is F, Cl, Br, C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 2 -C 4 alkenyl, cyclohexyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, methylthio, dimethylamino, NO 2 , CN, nitroso or CF 3 ; Y is H, F, Cl, Br, NO 2 or C 1 -C 4 alkyl or alkoxy; Z is Cl, Br or C 1 -C 4 alkyl and n is 0, 1 or 2; R 2 and R 3 are H or CH 3 and Q is C 1 -C 12 alkoxy, phenoxy, p-chlorophenoxy, benzyloxy or pchlorobenzyloxy with the proviso that Q is C 1 -C 3 alkoxy when R 1 contains more than 5 carbon atoms. The compounds in which R 2 and R 3 are both H are prepared by reacting the sodium salt of a hydroxamate ester of formula with a solution of phosgene and reacting the intermediate with ammonia. The compounds in which R 2 is H and R 3 is CH 3 are prepared by reacting the hydroxamate ester referred to above with methylisocyanate. The compounds in which R 2 and R 3 are both CH 3 are prepared by reacting the sodium salt of the hydroxamate ester with dimethylcarbamyl chloride. The starting hydroxamate esters may be prepared by reacting a nitrile of formula R 1 CN with an alcohol of formula QH to form an imino ether and reacting this with hydroxylamine. |
