Pharmaceutical compositions having antiinflammatory, anti-hypercholesterolaemic and/ or choleretic activities comprise a 3-ethylsalicylic acid compound and optionally an antiinflammatory corticosteroid or an anti-hypercholesterolaemic steroid. The anti-inflammatory steroid may be prednisone, prednisone acetate, prednisolone, prednisolone acetate, hydrocortisone alcohol or acetate, dexamethasone or triamcinolone and the anti-hyper cholesterolaemic steroid may be androsterone 'or the acetate or propionate thereof or #-sitosterol. The 3- ethylsalicylic acid compound may comprise 3-ethylsalicylic acid or pharmacologically useful salts thereof e.g. Na, K, Ca, Al and Mg salts; or esters thereof e.g. the ethyl ester. The compositions may be administered orally or rectally in form of tablets, capsules, suppositories, cachets or suspensions containing conventional diluents or carriers.
