titleOfInvention Process for the polymerization of alpha-olefins
abstract 1,128,590. Polymerizing olefins. MONTECATINI EDISON S.p.A. 12 Sept., 1967 [14 Sept., 1966], No. 41494/67. Addition to 1,076,322. Heading C3P. In the process for the polymerization of alpha-olefins by the process of Specification 1,076,322 (Division C3), the polymerization is carried out at a temperature in the range of 60‹ to 120‹ C. The olefin is preferably ethylene, propylene, butene-1, iso-butene, pentene-1, hexene-1, butadiene or isoprene, and the polymer may be partially or completely precipitated in the reaction. The catalyst, a chromium compound deposited on a silicon-containing carrier, may be partially or totally left in the polymer. In the examples, a catalyst system was obtained by reacting chromyl fluoride with silica-alumina. This catalyst was used for the polymerization of ethylene in n-heptane.
