titleOfInvention Vinyl polymer compositions
abstract 1,125,047. Compositions containing fatty amides. PRODUITS CHIMIQUES PECHINEY-SAINT-GOBAIN. 17 March, 1966 [18 March, 1965], No. 11789/66. Heading C3P. The impact strength of vinyl homopolymers and copolymers and mixtures of them with other polymers is improved by incorporating in them a fatty amide selected from stearamide, ethylhexyl stearamide, lauramide, ethane 1,2-bislauramide, octadecanamide, hexadecanamide, ethane 1,2 - bisbehenamide, methylene distearamide, ethylene distearamide, hexamethylene distearamide, methylene dilauramide, ethylene dilauramide, methylene dibehenamide, ethylene dihexadecanamide, ethylene dioctadecanamide, propylene dioctadecanamide and diethylene tristearamide, the proportion of fatty amide being from 0À1 to 10% by weight based on the polymer or polymer mixture. Suitable polymers are polyvinyl chloride, the ternary copolymer of acrylonitrile, butadiene and styrene and the interpolymer of styrene with acrylonitrile, or an alkacrylate, polyisoprene and polybutadiene. Suitable mixtures of polymers are polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride or acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer with butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber, acrylonitrile-styrene copolymer with butadiene - acrylonitrile rubber or butadiene-styrene rubber, and an interpolymer of styrene, acrylonitrile or an alkacrylate, polyisoprene, and polybutadiene with butadieneacrylonitrile copolymer or styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer.
