titleOfInvention | Improvements in body implantable electrical conductor |
abstract | 1,124,143. Two part couplings; terminals. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. 19 July, 1966 [20 July, 1965], No. 32417/66. Heading H2E. [Also in Division H1] A conductor assembly (see Division H1) suitable for connecting a pacemaker to a human heart has at one end a plug for connection to the pacemaker, comprising a gold plated metal tube 30 sealed to the inside of silicone rubber outer tube 33 by a room temperature vulcanizing silicone rubber, and two terminal pins supported in an insulator 40 and crimped on to the ends of the conductors. At the other end of the assembly the conductors carry surgical needles which allow the conductors to be drawn through the myocardium. Ferrules are then squeezed on to the ends of the conductors to prevent their return and the needles are cut off. |
