abstract | D 3-Pyrroline-2-carboxylic acid is prepared by reduction of 2-pyrrole carboxylic acid by reacting the latter acid with hydriodic acid and hypophosphorous acid, in the presence of water or a mixture of water and an organic solvent which is inert under the reaction conditions and miscible with water, or by reacting 2-pyrrole carboxylic acid with nascent hydrogen form from a hydrohalic acid and a suitable metal such as zinc or tin, in the presence of an organic solvent. |
