titleOfInvention Dispersant compositions and toxicant concentrates containing the same
abstract The isopropylamine-ammonium di-salt of the sulphosuccinic acid ester of nonyl phenol monoethylene glycol mono-ether and the compound <FORM:1119775/C2/1> where M, M1 are a mixture of isopropyl aminoethanol and isopropylamine diethanol may be prepared by reacting the respective nonyl phenol-ethylene oxide adducts with maleic anhydride and reacting the resulting maleic acid esters with amine sulphite solutions.ALSO:Emulsions of organic solvent solutions of biocidal toxicants in aqueous solutions of inorganic salt fertilizer material are prepared using as dispersant a composition comprising (a) a compound of formula <FORM:1119775/B1-B2/1> where Ar is phenyl or bisphenyl, R is C5 to C12 alkyl, phenyl or benzyl, R1 is C5 to C12 alkyl, R2 is C1 to C3 alkyl, - OX is oxyethylene or oxypropylene, Y is the decarboxylated residue of a C4 to C8 polycarboxylic acid, M and M1 are separately alkali metals (Na, Li, K, NH4) or organic substituted ammonium radicals, n is zero or 1, x is zero or 1, w is 1 to 15 when -OX is oxyethylene and 1 to 10 when -OX is oxypropylene, v is 1 or 2, and (b) an amine salt of an alkyl (C12 to C18) benzene sulfonic acid, the weight ratio of (a) to (b) being at least 2:1. The total of (a) and (b) form 3% to 30% of the dispersant composition. The aqueous phase may contain at least 20% of inorganic fertilizer material.ALSO:A biocidal toxicant concentrate comprises an organic solvent solution of an organic water-insoluble toxicant containing 3% to 30% by weight of a dispersant composition which comprises (a) an ethylene oxide or propylene oxide adduct of a substituted phenol or bisphenol esterified with an sulfopolycarboxylic acid and (b) an amine salt of an alkyl benzene sulfonic acid, the weight ratio of (a) to (b) being at least 2:1 (see Division B1). This concentrate forms the oil phase of a homogeneous emulsion; the water phase is a solution of inorganic fertilizer ingredients. Specified toxicants are Aldrin, Dieldrin, Lindane, Heptachlor, Nemagon (Trade Mark), ethylene dibromide, DDT, organic thiocyanates, bornyl thiocyanoacetate, trichlorobenzene, and ethers of pentachlorophenol.
