titleOfInvention A cosmetic preparation
abstract A hair grooming composition comprises a polyamide, which is the reaction product of an aliphatic polycarboxylic acid and an alkylene polyamine and has an average M.W. between 2000 and 14,000, at least partly dissolved in a liquid, oily, non-polar solvent consisting of or including a substance having a chain of at least 10 C atoms in its molecule, e.g. mineral oil. The composition may include an alcohol, a fatty acid, or a glycol ester as a co-solvent, and a fatty acid amide having a chain of at least 10 C atoms as a stabilizer.ALSO:Aerosol hair grooming compositions comprise a polyamide material at least partly dissolved in a liquid, oily, non-polar solvent consisting of or including a subtance having a chain of at least 10 C atoms in its molecule, the polyamide material being a reaction product of an aliphatic poly-carboxylic acid and an alkylene polyamine and having an average M.W. between 2000 and 14,000 and a suitable propellant. A typical composition comprises a polyamide of average M.W. 8000, ethyl alcohol, lanolin oil, propylene glycol monolaurate, and perfume together with trichloromonofluoromethane and dichlorodifluoromethane.ALSO:A hair grooming composition comprises a polyamide material at least partly dissolved in a liquid, oily, non-polar solvent consisting of or including a substance having a chain of at least 10 C atoms in its molecule, the polyamide material being a reaction product of an aliphatic poly-carboxylic acid and an alkylene polyamine and having an average M.W. between 2000 and 14000. The liquid, oily, nonpolar solvent may be a mineral oil. The compositions may include an alcohol, a fatty acid, or a glycol ester as a co-solvent and a fatty acid amide having a chain of at least 10 C atoms as a stabilizer. The compositions may be in the form of gels, lotions, brilliantines, emulsions, or aerosols. The invention also comprises a method of grooming hair comprising the step of applying the above hair grooming composition to the hair.
