titleOfInvention Amine cyanoferrates and methods for preparing same
abstract Novel ferri- and ferrocyanic acid amine salts having fungicidal, algicidal and bactericidal activity and of the general formula, (R.NH2)m.HmFe(CN)6, wherein R is an alkyl group having from 6 to 18 carbons or the group (R1XR11), wherein R1 is an alkyl group having from 4 to 14 carbons or an alkoxyalkoxyalkyl group containing from 6 to 16 carbons, X is oxygen or sulphur, R11 is an alkylene bridge having from 2 to 4 carbons and m is the integer 3 or 4, are prepared by reacting an amine of the formula R.NH2 or R1.X.R11.NH2 or an acid addition salt thereof with ferrocyanic or ferricyanic acid or the water-soluble salts thereof.ALSO:Fungicidal nematocidal bactericidal and algicidal compositions contain as the main ingredient novel ferri- or ferrocyanic acid amine salts of the general formula, (R. NH2)m. Hm Fe(CN)6, wherein R is an alkyl group having from 6 to 18 carbons or the group (R1 x R11) wherein R1 is an alkyl group having from 4 to 14 carbons or an alkoxyalkoxyalkyl group containing from 6 to 16 carbons, X is oxygen or sulphur, R11 is an alkylene bridge having from 2 to 4 carbons and m is the integer 3 or 4. The fungicide may be provided in the form of an aerosol such that the amine salt is either dissolved in a highly volatile liquid carrier, such as trifluorochloromethane, or dissolved in a less volatile solvent, such as benzene, and then admixing such solution with the highly volatile carrier. Dusts may be prepared by mixing the amine salt with, for example, clay, bentonite, pumice, Fuller's earth or pyrophyllite. Emulsions are formed by dissolving the amine salt in a hydrocarbon, e.g. benzene or toluene, or halogenated hydrocarbon, e.g. chlorobenzene, chloroform, fluorotrichloromethane or dichlorodifluoromethane, and adding water. Aqueous suspensions, wherein the over-all composition may contain a dispersing agent, e.g. the fatty acid esters of polyhydric alcohols such as Span which is a registered trade mark or the alkylarylpolyether alcohols, or a surface active agent may also be utilised. Bactericides and fungicides are usually provided in the form of suspensions or solutions.
