titleOfInvention Improvements in the processes for the production of n-methylbutylamine
abstract N-Methylbutylamine is prepared by the catalytic hydrogenation, in the liquid phase, of mixtures of butyraldehyde and monomethylamine, the butyraldehyde being injected continuously into a reactive environment formed by a mixture of monomethylamine and an aqueous or aqueous alcoholic solution of sodium hydroxide. The sodium hydroxide solution preferably contains 0.1-10% by weight of sodium hydroxide and the molar ratio of monomethylamine/ butyraldehyde is suitably between 1 and 1.5. The reaction is suitably carried out at a pressure between 1 and 100 bars.
