titleOfInvention Paint stripping compositions
abstract A paint-stripping composition comprises at least 10% by weight of one or more organic paint-stripping solvents, at least 0.5% by weight hydrogen peroxide and at least 0.5% by weight of water. Specified paint-stripping solvents are hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, lower alcohols, phenols, 2-nitropropane, and ketones. The composition may also contain one or more organic surface-active agents, several non-ionic, anionic, cationic and ampholytic types being specified, and a thickener, e.g. various cellulose derivatives, various synthetic polymers, colloidal silica, colloidal alumina, bentonite, gum arabic, starch, tragacanth, or agar, or an evaporation retardant which may be in the form of a water seal which rests on top of the paint-stripper, e.g. water and paraffin wax.
