abstract A composition comprises a vinyl resin plastisol and, as an adhesion promoter, 0.01-5.0% by weight of an amino alkoxy silane derivative (defined) by weight of the non-volatile constituents of the composition, which plastisol does not contain an epoxy compound. Suitable silanes are g -aminopropyl trimethoxy silane and N-(b -aminoethyl)-g -aminopropyl trimethoxy silane. The vinyl resin is polyvinyl chloride. Suitable plasticizers are dioctyl phthalate and modified polypropylene adipate. The compositions may also contain calcium carbonate filler and basic lead carbonate stabilizer. The compositions may be dissolved in a solvent.ALSO:Steel plates are sprayed with a solution in an organic solvent of a composition comprising a vinyl resin plastisol and, as an adhesion promoter, 0.01-5.0% by weight of an amino alkoxy silane (defined), the composition being free of epoxy group containing compounds. Suitable promoters include g -aminopropyl trimethoxy silane and N-(b -aminoethyl)-g -amino-propyl trimethoxysilane. The plastisol is preferably polyvinyl chloride in dioctyl phthalate. The composition may also contain calcium carbonate filler and basic lead carbonate.
