abstract | Animal specimens are preserved by contacting with a quaternary ammonium salt of hexamethylenetetramine or a mixture of such a salt and a 1, 4-dioxanone, or an aqueous solution of said salt or said mixture. In the examples portions of mice liver, mice kidney and rabbit liver specimens immersed in aqueous solutions of 2-para-dioxanone together with hexamethylenetetramine 1, 3- dichloropropene or -epichlorohydrin adducts, or aqueous solutions of hexamethylenetetraminepropargylbromide or -a -chlorotoluene adducts both with and without the addition of 2-para-dioxanone. Conventional humectants may be included in the mixtures. |
