titleOfInvention | Ionized sulphates of the pregnene series and method of use thereof for therapeutic purposes |
abstract | The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:1110125/C2/1> wherein X is the ammonium cation or the cation of an alkali metal or an organic base, R is a hydrogen or fluorine atom, R1 is a C1- 4 alkyl group or an acyloxy group and R11 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group or R1 and R11 together form an isopropylidenedioxy group, and R111 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, and their preparation by reaction of a corresponding 3-ol with an organic base-sulphur trioxide complex, followed if desired by conversion to the ammonium or alkali metal salt.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions having progestational activity comprise, in combination with a carrier, a compound of formula: <FORM:1110125/A5-A6/1> wherein X is the ammonium cation or the cation of an alkali metal or an organic base, R is a hydrogen or fluorine atom, R1 is a C1-4 alkyl group or an acyloxy group and R11 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group or R1 and R11 together form an isopropylidenedioxy group and R111 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, optionally in combination with an estrogenic substance, for example estradiol sulphate or ethynyl estradiol. The compositions may be formulated for oral or parenteral administration or added to animal feeds. |
