titleOfInvention | Improvements in or relating to the bonding of nylon to olefin copolymers |
abstract | An adhesive composition comprises an aqueous mixture of a heat-hardening phenol-aldehyde type resin and an elastomeric copolymer of at least one a -olefin and at least one nonconjugated diene. The phenol-aldehyde resin is suitably a resorcinol-formaldehyde resin, and is suitably a resorcinol-formaldehyde resin, and may be prepared in situ in the presence of a latex of the a -olefin - non-conjugated diene copolymer. This copolymer may be a copolymer of ethylene with 1,4-hexadiene, 5-methylene-2-norbornene, or dicyclopentadiene, or a terpolymer of ethylene and propylene with these or with 5-(21-butenyl)-norbornene, or a terpolymer of ethylene, 2-norbornene and 1,4-hexadiene. |
