titleOfInvention | 7-amino-carbostyril derivatives |
abstract | The invention comprises (i) 7-amino-carbostyril derivatives of the formula <FORM:1103531/C2/1> wherein R and X independently represent hydrogen or a C1- 4 alkyl group and Y represents a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic heterocyclic radical; and (ii) a general method for preparing compounds of the above formula where Y may also represent a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic radical comprising heating an aqueous solution of an alkali metal polysulphide with a 2-amino-4-nitro-toluene of the formula <FORM:1103531/C2/2> Specified values of the radical Y are phenyl, naphthyl, pyridyl and thienyl, optionally substituted by alkyl, alkoxy, halogen or phenyl radicals. The radical Y in the starting material may also be substituted by nitro or carbalkoxy groups which are reduced in the reaction to yield products containing amino or carboxy substituents. |
