titleOfInvention | Novel polysulfide polymers containing amino groups |
abstract | The invention comprises polysulphide polymers containing amino groups and having the formula <FORM:1102535/C3/1> where Ri and Rii are alkylamino groups of formula <FORM:1102535/C3/2> wherein z is 0, 1, 2, 3 or 4, Riv and Riii are hydrogen atoms, alkyl radicals, aromatic radicals or alicyclic radicals, R is an intervening group with a valency of two or more, x is a number greater than one and L is -O- or -S-. The polymers are prepared by reacting hydroxyl- or mercapto-terminated polysulphide polymers of formula <FORM:1102535/C3/3> with alkylenimines formula <FORM:1102535/C3/4> in the presence of an acid catalyst. The polymers may be reacted with polyepoxides (see Specification 1,102,536). In examples liquid mercaptan terminated polysulphide polymers are reacted with ethylenimine, propylenimine and 2,21-dimethyl ethylenimine, and the resulting amino-containing polysulphides are reacted with epichlorhydrin-bisphenol A polyepoxides, with epoxidized soy bean oil, with epoxidized polybutadienes and with cycloaliphatic di-epoxides. |
