titleOfInvention New monoacetylenic ketonic compounds
abstract The invention comprises compounds of formula R-CH=CH-CO-CC-R1 wherein R is a 5-membered, 6-membered or fused ring heterocyclic residue containing at least one hetero atom which may be substituted by one or more alkyl, acyl, halogeno, trihalogenomethyl, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, amino, amido, dialkyl amino, dialkyl amido or nitro groups and R1 represents a 5-membered, 6-membered or fused ring heterocyclic residue containing at least one hetero atom which may be substituted by one or more of the above substituents; an alkyl radical or an aromatic radical with simple or condensed nucleus which may also be substituted by one or more of the above groups. They are prepared by oxidation of the corresponding alcohols with e.g. manganese dioxide or chromium trioxide. Particular claimed compounds are 1-(2-furyl)-5-phenyl-1-pentene-4-yn-3-one, 1 - (2 - furyl) - 1 - hexene - 4 - yne - 3 - one and 1 - (2 - furyl) - 1 - hepten - 4 - yn - 3 - one. The starting alcohols of formula R-CH=CH-CHOH-CC-R1 are prepared by reaction of R-CH=CH-CHO with (1) an alkali metal acetylide of formula: (alkali metal)-CC-R1 in a solvent followed by hydrolysis or with (ii) a Grignard reagent of formula: halogen-Mg-CC-R1 followed by hydrolysis.ALSO:Fungicidal compositions comprise compounds of formula:- R-CH-CH-CO-CC-R1 in which R is a 5-membered, 6-membered or fused-ring heterocyclic residue which may be substituted by one or more alkyl, acyl, halogeno, trihalogenomethyl, hydroxyl, alkoxyl, amino, amido dialkylamino or amido, or nitro groups and R1 the same as R or is an alkyl radical or an aromatic radical which may also be substituted by one or more of the above groups, in admixture with an inert diluent or carrier. The compositions may be in the form of pastes, pomades, dusts, powders or solutions and acetone, benzene, chlorobenzene, chloroforms, talc, sand and kaolin and specified diluents and carriers.
