abstract Novel compounds of the general formula <FORM:1099410/C2/1> in which R represents a hydrogen atom or an acyl radical, are obtained in a process wherein a 16a - methyl - D 4 - pregnen - 17a - ol - 3,20 - dione or a 17-ester thereof containing an oxirane ring in 6,7-position is reacted with hydrogen fluoride to effect splitting of the oxirane ring and introduction of fluorine in 6-position, water is split off with formation of a double bond in 6,7-position, and, if desired, a product containing a free 17-hydroxyl group is esterified.
