titleOfInvention Stabilised chlorofluoroalkane-polyol compositions
abstract A stabilized chlorofluoroalkane-polyol composition comprises a chlorofluoroalkane of the methane or ethane series, a polyol useful for preparing polyurethane foams by reaction with polyfunctional isocyanates in the presence of chlorofluoroalkane blowing agents, and as stabilizer 0.05% to 5% calculated on the weight of the chlorofluoroalkane of an aromatic nitrocompound of formula RNO2 wherein R is a substituted phenyl or naphthyl radical. The polyol may be a polyether prepared from an alkylene oxide and a sugar alcohol, trimethylolpropane or glycerol; an ester of a dicarboxylic acid and a polyalkylene glycol; a polyamide prepared from a polyhydric alcohol and tolylene di-isocyanate; or a condensate of an alkylene oxide with a di- or tri-amine. The chlorofluoroalkane may be trichlorofluoromethane. The nitro compound may be nitrobenzene, a dinitrobenzene, a nitrotoluene, a nitrophenol, a nitroaniline, a nitrotoluidine, a nitroanisidine or a nitronaphthalene. The compositions may also contain triethanolamine as a cross-linking agent.ALSO:A stabilized chlorofluoroalkane-polyol composition comprises a chlorofluoroalkane of the methane or ethane series, a polyol useful for preparing polyurethane foams by reaction with polyfunctional isocyanates in the presence of chlorofluoroalkane blowing agents, and as stabilizer 0.05 to 5% calculated on the weight of the chlorofluoroalkane of an aromatic nitrocompound of formula RNO2 wherein R is a substituted phenyl or naphthyl radical.
