titleOfInvention | Preparation of ditins |
abstract | Organoditins of the formula R1R2R3SnSn R4R5R6 are prepared by heating (1) a compound or compounds of the formulae R1R2R3 SnCl and R4R5R6SnCl; and (2) sodium in a tetrahydrocarbon tin compound of the formula R7R8R9R10Sn as solvent. R1 to R10 which may be the same or different are alkyl, aralkyl, alkaryl or aryl, with the proviso that not more than three of R1 to R6 are aryl or alkaryl. There may be at least 0.5 mole of solvent per mol. of reactant (1). The Na may be in a 10-30% molar excess and dispersed in the solvent. The reaction temperature may be 80-150 DEG C. and the reaction pressure may be atmospheric. Reactant (1) and the solvent may be obtained by reacting SnCl4 with an excess of tetrahydrocarbon tin compound. The products may be used as pesticides. |
