titleOfInvention Novel isoindoline derivatives and a process for the manufacture thereof
abstract Novel isoindoline derivatives of formula <FORM:1097168/C2/1> and acid addition salts thereof, where S1 and S2 each represent optical substitution by one or more halo, C1- 7 alkyl, C1- 7 alkoxy, hydroxy, sulphonyl, sulphinyl, sulphamyl, C1- 7 alkylmercapto, C1- 7 alkylamino, di(C1- 7 alkyl)-amino, acylamino and/or CF3 substituents, R is C1- 7 alkyl and B is a straight or branched chain C2- 12 alkylene group in which part or all of the carbon atoms may form a 3- to 7-membered carbocylic ring, are prepared by reaction of the diamine H2N-B-NH2 with a diester of formula <FORM:1097168/C2/2> wherein X is halogen, mesyloxy or tosyloxy. which may have been prepared in situ from the corresponding diol. Pharmaceutical compositions in conventional forms for oral, rectal or parenteral administration comprise an above novel compound and a compatible pharmaceutical carrier and have anti-depressant and anorexigenic activity.
