titleOfInvention A method of combating fungi
abstract Compounds of the formula <FORM:1097067/C2/1> wherein R1 is an H atom or Me radical, R2 is an H atom or NO2 radical, R3 is a methoxy or an ethoxy radical, R4 is an Et, iso-propyl, s-butyl, methoxy or an ethoxy radical, X is an O or S atom, and Y is an O atom, are prepared by the phosphorylation of appropriately substituted phenols. In an example, O,O-diethyl-O-(4-benzylphenyl)-thionophosphoric acid ester <FORM:1097067/C2/2> is prepared by reacting 4-hydroxy-diphenyl-methane with O,O - diethylthionophosphoryl chloride.ALSO:A method of combating or of preventing the growth of fungi comprises applying to a fungus habitat an effective amount of a compound of the general formula <FORM:1097067/A5-A6/1> wherein X is O or S, Y is O or S, R is alkyl, alkoxy, alkylmercapto, alkylamino, alkenylamino, or dialkylamino, R1 is C1-6 alkyl or cycloalkyl, and R2 is phenyl substituted at least once by halogen atoms, nitro, C1-4 alkyl, alkoxy, alkoxy-carbonyl, alkylmercapto, alkylmercapto alkyl, cyanoalkylmercapto, alkyl-sulphoxy, alkyl-sulphonyl, or an optionally halogenated aralkyl radical, alone or in admixture with a solid or liquid diluent or carrier.
