titleOfInvention Process for the separation of organotrichlorosilanes
abstract Organotrichlorosilanes are separated from liquid mixtures containing them by contacting with tris (dimethyl-amino) phosphine oxide and separating the solid complex formed. These novel complexes have the formula R Si Cl3.2 O = P[N(CH3)2]3 where R is C1- 4 alkyl, C2- 4 alkenyl, C5- 6 cycloaliphatic or mononuclear aryl or aralkyl, optionally containing an inert substituent, e.g. halogen. The complexes decompose on heating and the components are separated by fractional distillation. The process may be carried out in two stages and diluents may be used. The mixtures are generally those containing other organochlorosilanes particularly diorganodichlorosilanes.
