titleOfInvention N-(aminophenyl) cyclic amines and their use as antiozonants
abstract The degradation by oxygen and ozone of natural rubber and of rubbery conjugated diene polymers in inhibited by the addition of a compound of the general formula <FORM:1096464/C3/1> <FORM:1096464/C3/2> <FORM:1096464/C3/3> wherein each R is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl a aryl or combinations thereof, R1 is alkyl or cycloalkyl in formulae A and B and is cycloalkyl in formula C, and the amino nitrogen atoms are in the ortho or para positions. The inhibitors may be added to the rubbers in the form of physical mixtures or as emulsions and may be added to the rubber whilst the latter are in the form of latex or the inhibitors may be milled into coagulated rubbers.ALSO:The invention comprises compounds of the general formulae <FORM:1096464/C2/1> and <FORM:1096464/C2/2> wherein each R is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl, or combinations thereof, R1 is alkyl or cycloalkyl, or a combination thereof, and the amino groups are in the ortho or para positions, and of the general formula <FORM:1096464/C2/3> wherein R is as defined above, R1 is an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl radical and the amino group is in the ortho or para position. The compounds are prepared: (i) by catalytic hydrogenation of a substituted pyrrole to give the corresponding substituted prrrolidine; (ii) reductive alkylation of an N-nitrophenyl- or N-aminophenyl-pyrrolidine, -piperridine or -morpholine with a ketone; (iii) alkylation of an N-aminophenyl-pyrrolidine, -piperidine or -morpholine with an alkyl bromide in the presence of a base; or (iv) admixing a mono-N-substituted phenylene diamine with a 1,4-dihalobutane, a 2,21-dihalo-diethyl ether or a 1,5-dihalopentane, in the presence of a base.
