titleOfInvention Novel basically substituted cyclic ketone carboxylic acid esters
abstract Novel compounds of the general formula <FORM:1095214/C2/1> wherein A represents the atoms necessary to complete a cycloheptanone, cyclooctanone, cyclodecanone, 3,5,5 - trimethylcyclohexanone, 3 - n.ethyl - 6 - isopropylcyclohexanone, 6-cyclo-hexylcyclohexanone, 6 - cyclohexen - (11)-ylcyclohexanone, 1 - oxo - 1,2,3,4 - tetrahydronaphthalene, camphor or spirodecanone ring system, and R represents an alkylene group of 4-6 carbon atoms (but no 5 carbons atoms when A completes a cycloheptanone ring), are prepared by reacting a compound of the general formula <FORM:1095214/C2/2> (wherein Z represents a halogen atom) with a compound of the general formula <FORM:1095214/C2/3> in the form of its alkali metal compound or in the presence of Na2O, NaH, NaNH2, Na metal or PhNa. The product is preferably isolated in the form of an acid addition salt.
