| abstract | The invention comprises compounds of the formula <FORM:1094215/C2/1> in which the CN is in the m- or p-position to the phosphorus containing group and in which R and R1, which may be the same or different, represent C1-C8 alkyl, chloro-substituted C1-C8 alkyl, C1-C8 alkoxy, phenyl or C1-C4 di-alkylamino groups and X represents O or S. They may be obtained by reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:1094215/C2/2> in which Hal is a halogen atom, with a compound of the formula <FORM:1094215/C2/3> in the presence of a hydrogen halide acceptor, such as a tertiary amine and an organic solvent, at a temperature between 0 DEG and 100 DEG C. Examples are given for the preparation of the compounds. The products are useful as pesticides (see Division A5). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,033,265.ALSO:A compound or a mixture of compounds of the formula: <FORM:1094215/A5-A6/1> in which the CN is in m- or p-positions to the phosphorus containing group and in which R and R1, which may be the same or different, represent C1-C8 alkyl, chloro-substituted C1-C8 alkyl, C1-C8 alkoxy, phenyl or C1-4 dialkylamino groups, and X represents O or S (see Division C2); is used alone or in the form of an aqueous dispersion, aqueous or non-aqueous solutions, wettable powders, vapours, and dusts to combat pests. An example is given in which the compound is used in the form of an acetone solution which is suspended in water containing an emulsifying agent. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,033,265. |
