A lubricating oil comprises (a) paraffin base oils having a cloud point below - 10 DEG C. and a V.I. of at least 95, (b) naphthene base oils with a V.I. above 60 and a solidifying point below-35 DEG C. and (c) 3-25% of a synthetic C20+ ester having more than one ester group, an average V.I. above 140 and a solidifying point below - 40 DEG C. Esters specified are the di-2-ethylhexyl esters of adipic acid, dodecan-diacid and nonadecan-diacid and the isononan acid esters of decandiol. The lubricant may also contain polyacrylates, zinc dithio-phosphates, and alkaline earth metal sulphonates and naphthenates. |
