titleOfInvention Gelatin hardening
abstract Gelatin compositions comprise, as a hardener, an aziridine derivative of a cyclic phosphornitrile in which at least two aziridinyl radicals are attached through their nitrogen atoms to a P atom, e.g. one having one of the general formulae <FORM:1086739/C3/1> wherein each A represents a halogen atom or an aziridine group joined to the phosphorus atom at the nitrogen atom, at least two of the A's in each formula being aziridine groups. The compositions may contain other polymers, e.g. acrylic polymers and cellulose ether phthalates and particular reference is made to gelatinosilver halide emulsions, especially those used in colour photography and containing colour couplers.ALSO:2 - Chloro - 2,4,4,6,6 - pentakis(2 - methyl - 1 - aziridinyl) - s - triazatriphosphorine is prepared by reacting together propyleneimine, triethylamine and phosphonitrilic chloride trimer in benzene at 20-25 DEG C. Similarly, using ethylene imine and phosphonitrilic chloride tetramer, there is prepared 2,2,4,4,6,6,8,8-octakis(1-aziridinyl) -s-tetrazatetraphosphorine.
