Compounds of the Formula (I) in which R<SP>1</SP> is a phenyl, aralkoxyphenyl, pyridylalkyl or sulpholanyl group; R<SP>2</SP> is H or an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, dialkylaminoalkyl, aralkyl, nitro-substituted aralkyl, pyridylalkyl, phenyl, toluenesulphonyl or sulpholanyl group, or an alkyl group interrupted by a CO group; R<SP>3</SP> is an alkyl or a pyridylalkyl group or, when R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are sulpholanyl, is H; and R<SP>4</SP> is an alkyl group or a pyridylalkyl group ; or R<SP>3</SP>. and R<SP>4</SP> together with the adjacent carbon atom form a cyclobutane, cyclopentane, cyclohexane, or tetrahydrofuran ring, and acid addition salts of those compounds containing a dialkylaminoalkyl or pyridylalkyl group, are prepared by condensing a hydrazine of the formula where Y is H or MgX, where X is a halogen atom, with an ester, anhydride or acid halide of an acid of the formula or by condensing a compound of the Formula (I) in which one or more of R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>,<SP> </SP>R<SP>3</SP> or R<SP>4</SP> is H with an alkenylpyridine (to give a compound (I) where one or more of R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, R<SP>3</SP> or R<SP>4</SP> is pyridylalkyl) or with an appropriate alkyl, aralkyl, hydroxyalkyl, or dialkylaminoalkyl halide (to give the corresponding compound (I)). Pharmaceutical compositions having antiinflammatory activity comprise the compounds (I) and a carrier therefor. The compositions may be in a form suitable for parenteral or topical administration. |
