abstract | Novel 2-trichloro methyl benzimidazoles of the formula <FORM:1080009/C2/1> (where X is hydrogen or one or more nuclear substituents selected from halogen, hydroxy, acyloxy, alkyl, alkoxy, alkythio, haloalkyl, nitro, amino, and substituted amino groups, preferably in the 5(6)-position or the 5- and 6-positions) are prepared by reacting a monosalt of the selected o-phenylenediamine with an alkyl trichloroacetimidate, and nitrating if the nitro derivative is required. Veterinary preparations.-The compounds of the invention have anthelmintic properties and aqueous suspensions of powders of them may be used as veterinary anthelmintics. Methyl trichloracetimidate is prepared from trichloracetonitrile and methanol in the presence of anhydrous K2CO3. |
