titleOfInvention Improvements in and relating to d.c. transmission systems
abstract 1,078,468. Protective systems. ALLM€NNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. Nov. 24, 1964 [Nov. 30, 1963], No. 47696/61. Headings H2F and H2K. In a high voltage direct-current transmission system comprising at least two parallel-connected conductors between two converter stations, a switching device is provided at each end of each conductor, the switching devices being controlled by fault responsive devices so as to interrupt the circuit at both ends of a conductor having an earth fault. The faultresponsive device for each conductor may comprise current measuring transductors at each end of the conductor, a radio or other link and a comparator which compares the currents at the two ends and operates the switching devices when these currents differ. The converter stations may be provided with means to reduce the voltage when a fault occurs and under heavy fault conditions to change the rectifier station to inverter operation. Means may be provided to determine the current distribution between the conductors so as to indicate the position of the fault.
